Empty nest, letting go 2026 ( songbird nest, wood,eggshells, wind up toy, resin, rope, pigment) Empty Nest reflects on the quiet difficulty of letting go—of children, of roles, of expectations—and the strange beauty that can exist when something once held close is allowed to move on.The nest, once a place of protection, now sits empty. The cracked shells suggest something that has already happened—birth, loss, or both. Rather than focusing on absence as failure, the work frames emptiness as a natural stage in a cycle. The wind-up toy adds gentle motion, a stand-in for life continuing in a different form. Its mechanical movement contrasts with the organic nest, hinting at what remains after care has been given and the moment comes to release control #kineticsculpture #bahamianart #caribbeanart #art

Island antics experiments. Approximately 6’x10’Electric pole, rebar coconuts, found beach rope,grocery bags reclaimed wood. A kinetic meditation on balance and improvisation, this spinning sculpture assembles bent-laminated arcs, cast-off metals, and buoyant coconuts into a singular gesture of motion. With each rotation, the work becomes a wave—collapsing the line between engineering and ecology—where upcycled materials gain new agency and the tropical landscape becomes both subject and collaborator. #bahamianart #kineticart #caribbeanart #sculpture #art

Study 1 for temporary balance of tension and gravity with ultimate failure. The sculpture exists in a state of negotiated survival. Suspended between tension and gravity, it holds itself together the way a thought does just before it collapses. Upcycled materials—once obedient to other economies—are pulled into a new alignment, their previous functions erased but not forgotten. Cables stretch, joints strain, mass asserts itself downward while force insists otherwise. Nothing here is passive; every element is working.

Into this mechanical argument, cut flowers are introduced like a fragile confession. Their stems are clipped from continuity, alive only on borrowed time. As gravity slowly reclaims them—petals drooping, color fading—they reveal the sculpture’s true subject: not balance, but delay. The flowers do not decorate the structure; they measure it. Their decay becomes a clock embedded in the physics of the piece.

What we witness is a choreography of opposing laws. Tension promises permanence, gravity guarantees collapse, and the organic matter refuses both by changing. The work is never finished; it is only ever passing through a moment of coherence. In this way, the sculpture behaves less like an object and more like a condition—one that asks how long systems, bodies, and meanings can remain suspended before yielding to their natural end. #art #bahamianart #kineticsculpture #masterofnone #contemporaryart

Graffiti is rooted in my artistic path. It seemed like a joyful rebellion against the monotonous. Bringing a ray of light and color against an austere backdrop. This series of still life paintings is a journey of personal symbolism. Objects found on the beach, borrowed from friends and family and arranged to create a narrative of my own. It’s quite interesting, as the creator, to decide how much, if any of it needs or would benefit from a story given to the public. I still haven’t quite figured out the answer to that question. “Samsara”. Linoprint 12”x12” Series of 5. This piece is currently on view at @cabgalleryandstudio in a group Lino print show “Clean cut”. In Samsara, the artist delivers a quietly profound meditation on the cyclical nature of human existence through an unexpected visual language: the shorthand symbols of digital communication. Rendered in stark relief as a linoprint, these familiar icons—emojis, typographic cues, and glyph-like shorthand—are stripped of their casual context and elevated into the realm of archetype.

The choice of linocut, a medium known for its physicality and permanence, contrasts sharply with the ephemerality of digital text. In doing so, the work becomes a commentary on our increasingly digitized lives—how we compress complex human experiences into strings of symbols that flicker across screens and vanish. Yet, here, those same symbols are frozen in time, carved with intention, inviting contemplation.

The composition suggests a visual narrative arc: birth, growth, connection, decay, and renewal—each stage marked by a symbol we might normally gloss over in a text message. This juxtaposition lends the work a quiet irony. In a time when language is abbreviated and emotion is outsourced to emoji, Samsara asks us to reconsider the spiritual potential of even our most mundane expressions.

More than a critique, this piece is a reclamation. It speaks to the ways in which ancient truths persist—even through new forms. The cycle continues. The wheel turns. And in this, Samsara becomes not just a representation of the life cycle, but an embodiment of it. #dylanrapillard

Our conversations while hanging were as insightful and inspiring as usual. Thank everyone that fed me and helped me organize everything while I was neglecting myself to produce this body of work. Lemonade series. 8.5x11 mixed media on paper. These works to me are like diary entries. I approach most of my work with the idea that they are like distilled stories and portraits in the language of symbolic metaphors and repetitive patterns. A cacophony of time and space all going on at once. You gotta make the best you can with what you have, there is no other way. “When life gives you lemons bla bla bla”. I approach failure with joy, longing and perseverance. This philosophy I believe I got from skateboarding where you are fully aware that what you are doing is dangerous scary and you will definitely fail. You are in competition with no one other than yourself to do it right. This repetition of the lemon is symbolic of those trials and tribulations . We are all born under different circumstances, there is nothing we can do about that. Different backgrounds, different stories yet we are here, now. More to come about all that. This series of over 100 lemons is part of my first solo show. Glitch kitsch and things mother would like. Exhibition is hosted at @cabgalleryandstudio opening Thursday the 20th of march.
